“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge…” Proverbs 1:7, (NASV)
Oh Lord, I pray my children will attain wisdom and insight while they acquire disciplined, prudent lives by doing what is right, just, and fair. From childhood, give them prudence, knowledge, and discretion through listening, continual learning, and guidance. Let them fear You, oh God, for knowledge begins with awe and reverence of You. Place in their hearts a love of wisdom and discipline. In the same way, adorn them with their father’s instructions and their mothers teaching. But keep away sin’s enticement or the temptation to follow or give way to it. Instead, may wisdom be their cry from streets to public places. Stretch out Your hand to them, oh God, so they do not reject Your wisdom or knowledge but receive the full outpouring of Your heart. Oh Lord, help them heed wisdom, listen to advice, and accept correction. When calamity overtakes them, when disasters sweep over them like a whirlwind, and when distress and troubles overwhelm them, they will find You and You will answer. Yet cause them to listen for You will bless them with safety and ease.

“Everything that has breath shall praise the Lorde. Praise the Lord!” Psalm 150:6, (NASV)
Oh Lord, let my children praise you in the sanctuary and in Your mighty heavens. Fill them with praises for Your powerful acts and surpassing greatness. May they praise You with the trumpet, with the harp and with the lyre. Let them dance in praise to You with tambourines, flutes, strings, and clashing cymbals. Oh God, may their every breath praise You, oh Lord. “For the Lord takes pleasure in His people; He will glorify the lowly with salvation.” Psalm 149:4, (NASV)
Oh Lord, fill my children’s lips with a new song of praise to You. In their Maker, let them gladly rejoice. With dance, song, and musical instruments, may they praise Your Name. Yet make their hearts humble so they may be a delight to You and crowned with salvation. From their rising to their sleep, overflow them with rejoicing. In the same way, may their mouths be filled with Your high praises while their hands grip the double-edged sword to wage war against the wicked. “They are to praise the Name of the Lord, for His Name alone is exalted; His majesty is above earth and heaven. And He has lifted up a horn for His people…” Psalm 148:13-14, (NASV)
Let my children praise You in the heavens and in the heights above. May they join with the praises of angels and Your heavenly hosts, worshiping You with the sun, moon, and stars. Fill them with praises to Your Name, oh God. Just as all creation praises Your Name, let them also join in the song of the Lamb. With the mountains, hills, trees, and all creatures, let them praise Your Name. Oh Lord, join their praises with kings, all nations, young people, the aged, and children for You alone are exalted. Your splendor covers the heavens and the earth. Raise them up, oh God, and may Your horn be their strength. Draw my children close to You, I pray, so they may ever praise Your Name. |
