Ephesians 1:17

“I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ , the glorious Father, may give you the spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know Him better.” Ephesians 1:17
 
This verse speaks to the love story between God and us. He desires us to know him intimately. It is for this reason which Paul prays we will be given a spirit of wisdom and revelation. For the more we learn about God, the more we are drawn to Him.

     It reminds me of what it was like to fall in love with my husband. As I learned more about who He was, his character, his likes, and dislikes, the deeper I fell in love. As my eyes became enlightened to my husband, the more drawn to him I became.

     Similarly, the more we learn about God,  the more wisdom and insight we gained about Him. And the more we learn about God, the more our love grows for Him. This is why we need the Holy Spirit to open our eyes of understanding…that we may use this insight not for our own personal gain but that we might use it to grow closer to our God…to know Him better.
