“Apply your heart to discipline, and your ears to words of knowledge.” Proverbs 23:12, (NASV)
OH Lord, keep my children away from gluttony and drunkenness. Help them resist the cravings of deceptive delicacies and enticing drink to exercise wise restraint. Let them not covet wealth for riches are fleeting. Instead, may they apply their hearts to instruction and their ears to words of knowledge. OH Lord, grant me wisdom to discipline my children so their souls may not perish but be saved. When they speak what is right and walk from hearts of wisdom, may it make Your heart glad and rejoice. Fill them with zeal for You without envy of sin. In the same way, reveal the future hope You have for them and do not cut it off. Father God, keep them on the right path as You help them to listen to wise counsel, abide in truth, and obtain wisdom, discipline, and understanding. IN the same way, may their wisdom cause me, as their parent, great joy. I plead with You oh God, that my children will give You their hearts and they will keep Your ways from their youth to the end of their days.
