Verses 57-80
“Teach me good discernment and knowledge, for I believe in Your commandments.” Psalm 119:66, (NASV) Oh Lord, be my children’s portion. Let them seek You with all their hearts with vows to keep Your laws. Be gracious to them and cause them to turn their steps to Your statues. Grant them a ready heart of obedience so that they will hasten and not delay following You. In times of persecution, comfort them with the promise of Your Word. Oh Lord, fill their hearts with thanksgiving for Your righteous laws and great love which fills the earth. Lord, I plead with You to be good to my children. Teach them knowledge and good judgement, I pray. Let them believe in Your precepts and calling so they do not wander astray. In the same way, teach them Your decrees so they may learn of Your goodness for You are good. When evildoers smear them with lies, let them hold tight to Your promises so through their affliction they truly learn Your decrees. Make Your law more precious to them then gold or silver, oh God. You, oh God, who have formed my children, give understanding to them so they may learn Your commands and place their hope in Your word. When they are afflicted, help them remember the comfort of Your unfailing love and how Your laws are righteous. Be compassionate to my children, oh God, while You put their enemies to shame. Make Your laws a delight to them and help them meditate upon them. Give them a blameless heart, oh God, and surround them with friends who follow Your statues.
