Psalm 71

“Rescue and deliver me in Your righteousness, turn Your ear to me and save me. Be my Rock of refuge to which I can always go…” Psalm 71:2-3

Be my children’s refuge, oh God, and never put them to shame. Turn Your ears to them and deliver them by Your righteousness, I plead. Stand as their rock and Fortress yet save them from the grasp of evil men. Oh Lord, be their source of Hope and confidence. From a young age, I pray they will trust You and praise Your Name. Be their Strong Refuge so they may proclaim Your splendor from morning to night. Even when they are old, do not cast them away nor forsake them. But when their strength fades, come quickly to stand by their side. Cover their enemies with shame, scorn, and disgrace. Yet with my children, Lord, I pray You will always fill them with Hope and praise to You. In the same way, open their lips to proclaim Your mighty acts and marvelous gifts along with Your righteousness and salvation.

From infancy to old age, teach my children, oh God, and do not forsake them. Rather, let them declare Your power and might to the next generation and all who are to come. When they see bitter trouble, I pray You will restore and redeem their lives, raising them up from the depths of the earth. IN the same way, may You, the holy One of Israel, once more increase their honor while You turn to comfort them. With singing, musical instruments, and Your truth, may my children praise You and shout for joy. All day long, let my children speak of Your righteous acts.
