“Say to wisdom, ‘You are my sister,’ and call understanding your intimate friend.” Proverbs 7:4, (NASV) Oh Lord, keep Your commandments stored in my children’s hearts so they may live by Your ways. May they guard Your teachings as the apple of their eye, writing them on their hearts and binding them on their fingers. In the same way, make wisdom and understanding a close relative, keeping them away from lust, seduction, and adultery. Ground them deep in good judgement while You grant them wisdom and strength to flee temptation. Yet do not let them stray or turn aside so they do not descend to death.

“My son, comply with the commandment of Your father, and do not ignore the teaching of your mother; Bind them continually on Your heart; tie them around your neck. When you walk, they will guide you; when you sleep, they will watch over you; and when you awake, they will talk to you.” Proverbs 6:20-22, (NASV)
Oh Lord, help my children exercise wisdom whether to pledge or secure a debt for another. Protect them from those unwilling to honor their promises. Yet when my children are betrayed, may they humble themselves and exercise wisdom to free themselves from them neighbor’s grasps, wisely considering their ways. Help them not fall prey to laziness or sluggardness lest poverty come upon them. Yet keep them far from scoundrels and villains who plot evil and stir up dissention. Oh Father, may they not engage in what You despise. From pride, the shedding of innocent blood, concocting of evil plans along with eagerness to do evil, testifying falsely, and causing dissention, let them have no part. In turn, may they keep Your commands and forsake not Your teachings, binding them around their hearts and fastening them around their necks. When my children walk, may Your commandments guide them. When they sleep, let Your precepts watch over them. Even when they wake, may Your teachings speak to them. May Your Word be a lamp to their feet, lighting their paths and bringing them life. OOH Lord, do not let them be led astray or seduced by adulterous relationships but keep them faithful to their spouses with blessings of good judgement. “For the ways of everyone are before the eyes of the Lord, and HE observes all His paths.” Proverbs 5:21, (NASV)
Oh Lord, help my children heed Your wisdom and listen well to Your understanding. Let them flee from temptation and not be enticed, I plead, causing sin to be bitter in their mouths. May they practice discretion and preserve Your knowledge. In turn, bless my children’s marriage. Keep them captivated and rejoicing in the spouse of their youth. But teach them to love discipline and welcome correction with listening and obedient hearts. In the same way, observe my children’s ways, oh God, and keep them from wrongdoings. Free them from the chains of sin, oh God, while You bless them with life brought from wise instruction. OH God of Jacob, protect my children from wandering astray. “Watch over your heart with all diligence, for from it flow the springs of life.” Proverbs 4:23, (NASV)
Oh Lord, help my children listen to instruction. Give them close attention so they may receive sound learning. With all their hearts, let them lay hold of Your works so they may keep Your commandments and live. Yet bless them with wisdom and understanding, oh God. DO not forget them but may they learn to love wisdom. In turn, may wisdom protect and watch over them with honor and exaltation. I pray they will embrace and esteem wisdom above all other pursuits, crowning their heads in splendor. Oh God, guide my children in the ways of wisdom and lead them on straight paths with unhampered and firm steps. Help them to hold onto instruction, guarding it with their lives. I plead they will not walk in the way of evil men nor set foot on the path of evil. But let them turn from it, avoiding its wicked grasp. Make righteousness their first gleam of dawn, I plead, shining bright into the fullness of day. Oh Lord, may my children carefully listen to wisdom, and hold it close. Above all else, guard their hearts by putting perversity and corrupt talk from their mouths, and fixing their eyes upon You. Keep them from swerving to the right or to the left but help them stay on level ground, away from evil. “My Son, see that they do not escape from your sight; comply with sound wisdom and discretion, and they will be life to your soul and adornment to your neck.” Proverbs 3:21-22, (NASV)
Oh Lord, may my children remember Your teachings and store them in their hearts for Your commands lengthens days and brings prosperity. I pray love and faithfulness will be bound around their necks and written within their hearts so they will win the favor of both You and men. May they trust You with all their hearts and lean not on their own understanding but acknowledge You in all their ways so You will keep their path straight. Help them not be wise in their own eyes but fear You and shun evil so they will know health and be nourished. In the same way, help my children honor You with their wealth, giving You the first fruits of their harvest. Make Your discipline and rebuke a joy for my children as You correct those whom You love as a father. Oh Lord, how I pray You will bless my children with wisdom and understanding so they will be blessed with prosperity, long life, riches, and honor. Make Your wisdom and understanding more precious than gold or silver, even more desirable than precious gems. Let joy and peace walk with them as they seek after You for You will bless all those who embrace Your wisdom. Oh Lord, I plead You will grant them sound judgement and discernment as adornments around their necks so they will be kept safe and not stumble. Make their sleep sweet and free of fear for You are our confidence and keep our feet from ensnarement. Oh God, help my children not withhold good but freely give of their possessions. In the same way, let them not seek to harm their neighbor nor falsely accuse others. Likewise, may they not envy the ways of violent men. Take them into Your confidence, oh Lord, and richly bless their homes, consecrating them with uprightness, righteousness, and humility. Through Your wisdom, may my children be honored, I pray. “For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.” Proverbs 2:6, (NASV)
Oh Lord, turn my children’s ear to Your wisdom and their heart to understanding. Help them accept Your words and store up Your commands within them. May they call out to You for insight and cry aloud for understanding, searching for it as treasure. Yet help them understand what it is to fear You and to find Your knowledge. Give them wisdom, oh God, and bless them with the knowledge and understanding which flows from Your mouth. In the same way, grant them victory and be their Shield, helping them walk an upright and blameless life. For You guard the just and protect the faithful. I plead You will let wisdom enter their hearts and knowledge be a delight to their souls. May discretion protect and understanding guard them with wisdom, saving them from adultery and the ways of wicked men. Father God, help them to walk in the ways of the good and keep their feet on the paths of the righteous. Yet cut off their enemies and cast away the unfaithful. May You keep my children upright and blameless so they may remain living in Your great inheritance. “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge…” Proverbs 1:7, (NASV)
Oh Lord, I pray my children will attain wisdom and insight while they acquire disciplined, prudent lives by doing what is right, just, and fair. From childhood, give them prudence, knowledge, and discretion through listening, continual learning, and guidance. Let them fear You, oh God, for knowledge begins with awe and reverence of You. Place in their hearts a love of wisdom and discipline. In the same way, adorn them with their father’s instructions and their mothers teaching. But keep away sin’s enticement or the temptation to follow or give way to it. Instead, may wisdom be their cry from streets to public places. Stretch out Your hand to them, oh God, so they do not reject Your wisdom or knowledge but receive the full outpouring of Your heart. Oh Lord, help them heed wisdom, listen to advice, and accept correction. When calamity overtakes them, when disasters sweep over them like a whirlwind, and when distress and troubles overwhelm them, they will find You and You will answer. Yet cause them to listen for You will bless them with safety and ease. “Everything that has breath shall praise the Lorde. Praise the Lord!” Psalm 150:6, (NASV)
Oh Lord, let my children praise you in the sanctuary and in Your mighty heavens. Fill them with praises for Your powerful acts and surpassing greatness. May they praise You with the trumpet, with the harp and with the lyre. Let them dance in praise to You with tambourines, flutes, strings, and clashing cymbals. Oh God, may their every breath praise You, oh Lord. “For the Lord takes pleasure in His people; He will glorify the lowly with salvation.” Psalm 149:4, (NASV)
Oh Lord, fill my children’s lips with a new song of praise to You. In their Maker, let them gladly rejoice. With dance, song, and musical instruments, may they praise Your Name. Yet make their hearts humble so they may be a delight to You and crowned with salvation. From their rising to their sleep, overflow them with rejoicing. In the same way, may their mouths be filled with Your high praises while their hands grip the double-edged sword to wage war against the wicked. “They are to praise the Name of the Lord, for His Name alone is exalted; His majesty is above earth and heaven. And He has lifted up a horn for His people…” Psalm 148:13-14, (NASV)
Let my children praise You in the heavens and in the heights above. May they join with the praises of angels and Your heavenly hosts, worshiping You with the sun, moon, and stars. Fill them with praises to Your Name, oh God. Just as all creation praises Your Name, let them also join in the song of the Lamb. With the mountains, hills, trees, and all creatures, let them praise Your Name. Oh Lord, join their praises with kings, all nations, young people, the aged, and children for You alone are exalted. Your splendor covers the heavens and the earth. Raise them up, oh God, and may Your horn be their strength. Draw my children close to You, I pray, so they may ever praise Your Name. |
