“A joyful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit dries up the bones.” Proverbs 17:22, (NASV)
Oh Lord, bless my children with peace and quiet, free of strife but rich with inheritance. Test their hearts, oh God, and find them free from wickedness, lying, mockery, and gloating. Bless my children with a special, close relationship with their children while You also surround them with many grandchildren in their old age. In turn, may they live lives free of arrogance, lying, and bribes. But help them live lives which promote love. Oh Lord, please keep them from rebellion and foolishness but help them overcome evil with good, squelching quarrels before they even begin. Shape them to be friends whose love endures through even adversity and never gives up. Yet help them exercise good judgement, avoiding arguments, perversity, and deceit. Oh Lord, bless them with joyful hearts as good medicine. Give them a heart of integrity where they do not accept bribes. Instead, bless them with discernment, knowledge, and an even temper. Oh Lord, help them to hold their tongues and be slow to speak so they may be considered wise and discerning by all with whom they encounter.
