“The reward of humility and the fear of the Lord are riches, honor, and light.” Proverbs 22:4, (NASV)
Oh Lord, let my children desire You more than gold or silver. When danger threatens, bless them with prudence and be their refuge. Teach them fear and humility, oh God so they may be blessed with wealth, honor, and life. Father God, guard my children and train them in the way they should go so when they are old, they will not turn from You. In the same way, give them generous and pure hearts along with gracious tongues. I plead You will drive mockers away from them as well as strife, quarrels, and insults for You frustrate the words of the unfaithful while You keep watch over knowledge. Oh Lord, use the rod of discipline to drive folly far from my children while You protect them from falling into the pit of adultery. I also pray You will make them an advocate for the poor, never seeking to oppress or exploit the less fortunate. Yet help them pay attention, listen, and apply to their hearts Your words of wisdom so they may trust and be pleasing to You. Oh Lord, teach them Your council and knowledge with truth and reliability so that they may give sound answers. May You prevent them from keeping close company with hot tempered people as You also protect them from hasty and rash decisions. In turn, help them learn to respect and not push against established boundaries but appreciate them as blessings. Bless my children, I pray, with many talents and giftings so they may bring You honor and glory with the skilled work of their hands.
